The N H (Doc) Fisher Geoscience Library is the premier geoscience library in Australia. It was established in 1946 and has an extensive collection of earth sciences material. In 2007 the library was named in honour of Doc Fisher, the former Chief Geologist and fourth Director of the Bureau of Mineral Resources, Geology and Geophysics.

The library provides services to geoscience organisations, universities, research centres, the mining and petroleum industries and the public.

Opening hours

The Library welcomes visitors from 9am to 12pm, Monday to Friday, apart from public holidays. Please email beforehand with details of your research needs if you will be seeking to use material held in our basement storage (prefixed BASE in our catalogue).
